Understand
A privacy notice should be examined, not accepted because its heading sounds reassuring. Find what is collected, why, who receives it and how long it is retained. If an answer is absent, record that it is absent instead of assuming the most favourable case. Use the fictional notice supplied here; no account signup is needed.
Original classroom scenario / sample claim
Fictional notice: “We collect quiz answers to show scores. We share usage counts with a service provider.” It says nothing about how long answers are kept.
Try it and check it
- List the two stated data uses.
- Mark retention period as stated or not stated.
- Write a question you would ask before entering personal information.
- Explain why the word “safe” in an advertisement would not fill the missing detail.
Without a device: Print this lesson, use paper cards or the supplied fictional text, and discuss the checks in pairs. A student can later enter their own notebook record for teacher review when a device is available.
Notebook: write your corrected or unresolved conclusion, the evidence you actually checked, and a reflection. Do not include passwords, identity documents or private information. Original BrainCheck companion content, BCAI-v1.
